The [sb_youtube] is mycode and its required.
MyCode was easy to add, it does security checks to avoid people using untrusted sources or otherwise putting arbitrary code on the page and the shoutbox plugin supports MyCode by default.
So automatic link conversion won't be added.
With that being said, I've added some nice insert tools to allow you to insert stuff that is supported by the shoutbox:
This should make it easy enough.
