Like anything it's a personal choice. If you watch it or don't it's not the end of the world. Personally I think watching anime is similar to watching a series/movie on tv because there are so many different types/genres.
My first anime was Code Geass:R1 and I watched it in English (personally I thought English voice actors did it better though it's kinda awkward the first few episodes as they try to get used to the role).

gg ownaj. id love to watch some but i first gotta finish like 100 episodes of doctor who. and then like 40 of torchwood(or 20, idk) and then some prison break. and then 30000000 eps of all of those animes.
