• Good sizing, don't make it too big or too small. Keep different lengths of angles. E.g. all angles are at different ranges
  
• Maps that can appeal to poorly skilled players. Try to remove huge head glitches COUGH COUGH RAMPS. Your map needs to appeal to everyone!!
  
• Nice colours that aren't overdone. Although invex has done a great job of getting all the fucking terrible maps out, lanii is still in the game and I can barely see my crosshair when i play. Colours are great, but they can't distract from the the main idea and atmosphere
  
• Take the majorities favourite map, and see what you can do to implement some of the things the good map does, often the layout of the map that people love
