This is how my game looks and I just use max ingame. I dont think it's really an advantage.

gamma isnt detectable by the server, and its a user choice.
there is nowhere in the rules where it says "do not use gamma"
as long as it isnt on factions (you can get advantages by doing this) it should be fine
