Implementing Awards on the Forums - Fusionnn1 - 17-04-2016

Hello all Fusion here, as some of you may know by now im the guy who is addicted to retake haha, pretty hopeless at Surf/Jailbreak Big Grin

Was looking around the forums and saw the icon rewards you can get next to your name, such as the gems for donating etc, and was maybe thinking to see if anyone wants to see some of those for retake?

Maybe things along the line of things like

-Finish the game with 40 Kills or
-Get 20 kills with no deaths.

And you get an icon on the forums for this achievement.

For example there is the Top 10 player, LoL Tourney one and the Pro Surfer.

I would like to see In my opinion some retake ones implemented as i love the retake servers and would be good for players that are active on the forums and looking to advance higher in the ranks to get these rewards.

Cheers for your time Big Grin

The concept I really like, to just be able to build up kind of a profile reputation on the site would be pretty awesome.

However, what comes with this is a lot of development, I am yet to see a server plugin that gives achievements, let alone one that cooperates with websites.

It is a great idea, but there would be a lot of work behind it. I mean someone needs to completely develolp the plugin, from scratch.

The only way I could see something like this working, would be if Admins manually gave out the profile awards, but I can imagine from an admins perspective that would be a huge pain in the ass.

P.S: Something like a Top10 Badge would be fairly easy because thats mainly just some Python/html work, wouldnt have to touch the game at all, could just pull the information from the stats page (https://www.invexgaming.com.au/stats/)

We have never made a plugin to automate forum awards and probably never will, like agonyzz said its way too much work. We already do this sort of stuff with surf and jailbreak giving them out manually which takes less than a minute. So really all we have to do is add a couple awards for retakes which is pretty easy - we just need icons. Players can post a screenshot of the achievement feat in a forum post and we can give them the award.

Those feats suggested are far too easy though we'd need something more difficult than that for it to stand out. I played for 3 maps yesterday and achieved one of those almost both and i'm not even good haha.

One of the biggest and hardest to get awards should be making the Top 10. That would certainly be something I would like to show off on the forums.
Some other ones could be:
- A certain amount of hours spent on the server.
- A flawless game (meaning played through all 20 rounds without dying even once)

I think they should be fairly difficult to achieve and take time and effort, blood and sweat.

Theres always the option of adding gameme onto retakes, But would be rather pointless tbh. It is very team based and wouldn't really convey the top 10 players very well

Maybe these rewards could be 'listed' where the current awards I believe are. For example gandalf , on the left hand side there is a waving guard we could make logos/ images for participating in community events or as listed above, specific achievements and it'd help show the 'idols' of the community!
Some examples I feel should be implemented:

- Recieve Admin
- Receive Member
- Receive Senior Member
- Participation in community events
- Win Community Events
- Distinguished Member (Achieved my report a high amount of bugs or rule breakers)
These would definitely encourage activity and also assisting the staff c:

I don't see any point of getting an award for receiving admin/member, they get the title from it, and there is a ex-admin award too.
We already have event winning/participation awards for all the events we've done (Except overwatch night)
There is a bug fixer and expert suggestion award already too.
So yeah they're all pretty much covered. Feel free to leave more suggestions on ideas about it though.

Seth If you actually hover over one of the icons under the user's info, you can see what the award is for. We have many of those awards you listed already, some people even have 2 of the same award e.g. gandalf has 2 pro warden awards and h0pz/sacci has 2 ex-admin awards.
