Routes on Combat Surf - Masta - 18-12-2016 Introduction: Hello everyone my name is Masta (Maysta*) and i'll be showing you how to create, execute and take advantage of routes on the combat surf maps. I'll be using a few videos and some explaining to do this. This tutorial is aimed at intermediate surfers that have a good understanding of the basics and are competent enough to surf around the map. Turnbinds are also quite useful and i'll be showing u how to set those up as well. As a disclaimer, i'm most definitely not the best surfer around so don't take what I say without a grain of salt though I have quite a lot of time and experience on these maps doing these routes and should be helpful enough to make a positive difference to your surfing. Turnbinds: Turnbinds are useful because you don't have to make large distance turns with your mouse and can instead press a button to do it for ya. Having +left is most common however +right can still be used though most maps are better suited for +left turnbinding. Here is how you set them up: Code: bind <key> "+left" An example key could be capslock and would look like this: Code: bind capslock "+left" Setting up jetpack: Jetpack is very useful when surfing and can help when your doing routes by allowing you to recover if you stuff up or can even lead to better and more powerful routes such is the case when starting on ski and taking the right ramp after going under the building. After paying for it this is how you bind it: Code: bind <key> "+jetpack" An example of a key that you could use would be x because it's just in the right position for me at least and is quite popular how ever a mouse button is also popular. This is what that would would look like: Code: bind x "+jetpack" or Code: bind mouse5 "+jetpack" Explanation of Routes: Routes are the chaining of boosts or ramps to fly past or arrive at a certain place usually for the purposes to get some frags. A common route used by most surfers is what I call the "short route" on dust 2 where you get the boost out of jail bhop through the "a site" and short to arrive at "bottom" to get a few kills and start the loop back over again. Another common one is the ski route in which boosts are chained to fly past jail and get some kills before you fly to another ramp and start chaining boosts again to fly back up to jail. There are also other routes which aren't really loops but rather are a way to get someone where in a single direction such as getting the awp on some maps like ski or legends. Creating Routes: To create a route or loop you kind of have to have a start and end point. In a non loop the route wouldn't end where it started whereas in a loop the route would start and end in the same location such as jail on dust 2. If you want to have some worth in your route you want the end point to be a place with easily killed players or during your route you want to be able to kill players at your advantage such is the case if you fly over jail. You also want your route to be able to connect to another route so that you can be constantly surfing so that it's harder to hit you and easier for you to kill players. Remember that boosters are your best friends and will be able to increase the speed and decrease the difficulty of your route. Examples of routes: Here i'll show off a few of my favourite routes on ski, dust 2 and some other maps. Sorry they are low quality it's my first time using premier and shadow play. Ski examples This is a quick loop to gain speed at the start of a round and can be used to get extra speed for other routes. This is a route that lets you get good vision of jail and can be useful at the start of rounds to get some quick frags. Here is a route that give good vision of the map at the end of the round so you can scout the position of enemies such as tick in this example. Dust2 examples Here is a great route for getting speed though does require jetpack. It can be used as well to fly up high check the camping spots and get a quick kill. Here is a route used by luke and some others and is great to get up nice and high to get some frags or picks around the map. Conclusion: Hope this was semi useful because it was fun to make. I'll be adding some more routes in a weeks time after Christmas so I though i'd just post this to help those getting into surf and it'll be updated for new maps added and other maps as I get time to record some more! I encourage you to comment below some recordings of your favourite routes.
