Ban Guidelines Overview
This help doc outlines the Invex Ban Guidelines which are used to issue all bans on all platforms.
A ban grid is used by admins to issue standardised bans for similar offences.
This way, we can ensure all bans are fair and unbiased.
Definitions
User
A person that uses Invex Gaming platforms in any way. New User A new user is a user that has joined an Invex platform for the first time within the last 30 days OR has a total of 10 activity hours or less (playtime, forum time, etc) across all of their accounts. Recommended Ban Duration (RBD)
Ban duration range for a specific offence.
All issued bans must be issued with a duration within this range unless other special criteria is met. Offence Consideration Window (OCW)
Duration of time in which previous offences from the same category are considered when determining the RBD.
This duration is 12 months or the maximum ban duration for a given offence (whichever is larger).
Appeal Time
After your ban is issued, you must wait until the appeal time has passed before appealing your ban.
If your appeal is denied, you must wait until the appeal time has passed again before making additional appeals.
For Instant appeal times, you must wait a minimum of 3 days before making additional appeals.
Platform Ban
A platform ban is a ban issued only on the platform where the offence was committed (Website/Server/Discord).
Global Ban
A global ban is a ban issued on ALL Invex gaming platforms.
Indefinite Ban
An indefinite ban is a ban which is ongoing until some other action is taken (waiting for response from user, waiting on evidence to be provided etc).
They are usually platform bans.
Indefinite bans may be changed to a timed ban or permanent ban at a later time.
Permanent Ban
A permanent ban is a global ban which will never expire and is not appealable. Platform Bans vs Global Bans
All offences with a severity of Medium or lower will result in a platform ban.
All offences with a severity of High or Very High will result in a global ban.
New User Policy
All new users may have any offence (that has a severity of High or lower) reduced to a General Offence on a case by case basis.
Repeat Offender Policy
If you are banned for the same offence more than 5 times over the last OCW period, then staff or head admins may (at their discretion) issue a ban duration outside the RBD.
Ban durations outside the RBD should take into consideration the severity of the offence and be issued on a case by case basis.
Each case should be discussed by multiple members of the upper admin team.
Ban Evasion Policy
A user is said to be ban evading if they are accessing the platform they are banned on using alternate accounts/exploits/bugs/etc.
Any user that is caught ban evading will have their ban completely reset (even if it has already expired).
For the 2nd Offence, the RBD will also be multiplied by 1.5
For Subsequent Offences, the RBD will also be multiplied by 2.0
Enforcement by Admins
All Invex Gaming admins (including Staff) are required to follow the ban guidelines at all times.
Failure to follow the ban guidelines by banning outside the RBD can result in demotion.
