RL is a fun game to muck around in with mates. Has a high skill ceiling and steep learning curve but is very fun once you learn how to play properly. You'll also get better FPS than you would in H1. It has a great competitive eSports scene that has really grown recently.
H1 is more intense. Not too hard to learn all the basics and once you do, it's about being able to aim better and fine-tuning your skills. The game is still in "Early Access" and was meant to release in September, so the price is lower now than it will be when it is finally released for real, but it goes on sale less due to the devs being stingy. It's still very buggy and the devs don't care about the important issues that are a relatively easy fix, but the game definitely does have the potential to be an eSport and could be one of the best FPS games in the coming years.
In this community though, you'll find more people playing H1 than any other game (other than CS of course) so if you want a game to meme about with everyone else it's probably this.
I would say wait until a sale but like I already said, stingy devs.
Ultimately your choice though, trust your gut :)
