I am pretty clued in on how tech works. Custom built a pc, made many a project through java and such (including physics based benchmarking software). And giving anything physics increase computing power needed for said physics. This is because to have realistic looking physics the servers system has to make certain calculations. These calculations take processing power which if pushed too far it can be to the detrement of the overall stability and performance of said server. Just sending to clients that the weapon exists is far, far easier than giving each and everyone one of those weapons physics that takes a ton of precious processing power. The model of the weapons itself is mainly a client side thing as it is what renders it. The server just needs to send that information.
