If you have the VIP tag on forum you should manually be able to change the colour of your name in the profile settings and there would be a bunch of presets 

e.g Name Colour

• Default
  
• Crimson
  
• Golden
  
• Rainbow 
  

I don't know if this is possible but worth a shot, also saves the hassle of people asking for colour change but I don't know if it's possible for CUSTOM colour ways.

+1 I had thought of this before kind of as well. Maybe make it so you can change it only once a week to prevent spam? Or Some other timing.

Only reason this wasn't a thing is because it required me to change some underlying forum code.

Anyway, VIPs (and all users in general) can now pick which group they want shown on the forums by changing their 'display group' which can be done here:

Staff/Global will no longer do manual colour changes.
Custom colours are not an option but more styles can be added in the future.
