+1 Add body armour, I can literally go on dust2 overcore and 3 shot people with a p90 in the stomach. Maps like rebel resistance, although I reckon it shouldn't even be on the map list, definitely require body armour, as for anyone that has played it before knows, you're just going to get sprayed with an ak as you surf because it only takes 3 shots for them to die.

Body armour without kevlar feels much more suited to combat surf. Another popular surf server has this and it is much more balanced than a server with no armour, as you can still one tap people with pistols, but you don't get spammed by someone body aiming with an smg that literally requires no skill/effort at all.

If you really want head armour you can go to the effort of buying it at buyzone at the start of the round.

could go on about how aim punch when youre getting sprayed also fucks you over, but no one cares really.

Quite frankly, it is fucking irritating every time I die to either SMG's or Rifles. Some of our most popular maps in the current pool are either enclosed or close quarters (dust 2 overcore, rebel etc.) These maps force you to have close engagements with the enemy team and these maps are where the Rifles and SMG's are most prominent. Rebel is a jailcamp map, meaning that a player may either sit on top of the jail or fall into the jail. As soon as you teleport through these teleporters that spawn you on the top of the jail, if the enemy team is there you are as good as dead, whether you have an AWP or not, most times people don't even wait three seconds and you get immediately headshot by either an SMG or Rifle, with no chance of killing them, even if they don't telecamp you it's near impossible to kill them as they are already set up on top of the jail (with teammates to help them even) and after three seconds you get sprayed down by three different people with Rifles as there are limited AWP's on rebel and it doesn't take long to finish you as we don't have Armour and aim punch as well as the damage taken due to having no Armour coming into play. This however, may just be a problem with having a jailcamp map in the current map pool and that the only choices we have are to either fall into jail or venture into territory that may already be controlled by the enemy team, and the fact that we don't have Armour as Lagalot has stated, although players would have a much harder time trying to kill players with an AWP while they are strafing rather than just literally standing still and spraying at them until they die.

Dust 2 overcore is perhaps the most played map of all maps in the current pool. The map is a replica of the normal dust 2 map with various changes. Since it is basically a replica of dust 2 players will have close quarter encounters with the enemy due to all the enclosed places on the map such as jail, A site, short, long etc. The only way players can avoid close encounters with enemies is to camp one of the four teleporters which include Top 1, Top 2, T and CT spawn, players could also theoretically avoid close encounters by surfing and flicking off the side ramp into the air and shooting players on the ground. Rifles and SMG's came into prominence after an update was released and we lost Armour on every map. On Dust 2 in particular the usage of these weapons has risen exponentially as it is relatively easy to acquire these guns through gun spawners and the buy zone. I never usually use Rifles or SMG's on this map, however, every time I die to these weapons it really pisses me off as it doesnt take much skill to use these weapons, and it really puts me off surf when I die in the first 20 - 30 seconds of a round after picking up the AWP and boosting out of jail and then swinging around to kill a player camping on A site with a Rifle or SMG and then getting shot in the face, it just really puts me and alot of other players I know off surf as were not having fun just dying every round to people who are obsessed with obtaining points and resort to these weapons to do it, and it doesn't take much skill to spray at a player coming straight towards you although hitting flicks with the AWP takes atleast some amount of skill and is overall much more fun to verse rather than Rifles and SMG's (although this just may be a question of skill as I can't hit my shots on these players (most likely)). I think Rifles and SMG's are a contributing factor to the declining player base on surf at the moment as they aren't fun to play against and end up destroying those who play using the AWP, making them die every round and because of this the players eventually leave (myself included).

I don't even think adding Kevlar is going to solve this issue, if you miss you first AWP shot on a player using an SMG it's still basically a guaranteed death as @"pepedoge" has stated due to the time it takes to fire another bullet with the AWP, and I don't think this would solve the problems with Rifles either as it would take one more shot to kill people with Rifles if we were to have Kevlar, it would certainly help the situation but it wouldn't solve it. If it were up to me I would get rid of Rifles and SMG's or atleast trial it, to see how it helps the server out, but obviously it isn't up to me, it's up to everybody. These are just my thoughts.

I don't mean to be an ass hole but its not an Awp only combat surf.
If you keep getting killed by a p90, ask them to swap to an awp. if they don't want to, tell your team to focus on killing them first.
Sub machine guns are apart of the map as it is combat surf. you are meant to use different guns.

-1 leave all the guns in the game. Dont get youself caught in close quarters while the guy with a p90 is alive.

Jae I do happen to play surf a fair amount. Also for the maps without awps, (are there even maps without awps?) add awps! Replace the SMG's with the AWPs.

Anyways people following me and using P90's and MP9's simply puts me off. If you miss the first awp shot you're pretty much guaranteed death. People were using SMG's on dust 2 earlier today and the people dying just left because they didn't even get a chance to grab the awp (due to them being new). I think we can all agree that SMG's or even AK's and M4's are just cancer to play against.

its personal preference, you dont like to use smg because you like to use awp, what if the smg users dont like to use awp but like smgs ? were just supposed to stop the smg users from having fun ? all because you cant handle dying to them ? there are alot of smg users, so removing them would stop alot of people from having fun... and the point where you said smg users dont have any skill isnt true, you dont always have to use awp, its not an awp only combat surf server

There is no need to take the guns away. It is combat surf as Magikarp said.
However adding body armour and head armour would be great.
This also depends on how you play, and honestly I have rarely been killed by an SMG, this is because I manage to move and run away, just dont let them chase you.
Another thing we can do, is just lower the points you get from SMG kills (yes thats possible).

I think that adding in those two points will be extremely helpful, but there is no need to just get rid of the weapons.

An AWP is a one shot kill, comparing it to the SMG there is a huge difference whether it be damage or accuracy the AWP excels at both. It all comes down to your own skill when aiming and evading.

Pepe ily but I disagree, it isn't the people with no skill using ppbizons that causes the server to go down, it's the overwhelming advantage of someone who plays a lot over the normal player. The amount of times I've been killed by someone using Smgs is no where near the amount of times I died to someone in the top 50 players flying around landing asp noscopes where the average and newbie player would just die. The only thing newbie players have to try and hold an even Kd is smgs
