Good information provided here Grom.
It was indeed the case that the plugin tried to infect 2 people when only 1 (or 0) was available causing it to soft crash which in turn messed up the round_reset calls which made a lot of settings carry over to every other round (including damage protection etc).
This has now been fixed in Wardentools (1.17).
