Despite the benefits of the concept, this would inevitably result in applicants asking peers to approve of their application; greatly disturbing the sole process. I would like to think that if someone would genuinely like to vouch for the applicant, they would be allowed to talk with an admin. Essentially, admins are the users who would need to cooperate with each other, so if an admin isn't aware of the applicants capabilities, then the applicant may need to contribute more. Although, as Dandy (BANNED) mentioned, I agree that senior members should be able contribute to applications.
