Common map tips:
- Make sure the background isn't insanely bright so you can't even see your fuckin crosshair hahah. But good backgrounds can always make a make
- Good mapping and clip brushing in areas so players dont get stuck very often
- Be creative, literally make a map out of something random and crazy that actually means something to you, rather than idea stealing. Literally make a map out of metal pans if you can AHAHHA
- This really sucks because i dont play jb or surf fuck me.
- OPTIMISE IT!!!!!
- A map needs more unique ways to tackle enemies than just putting players on a higher footing, so add wallbang spots
- And then there are the actual environments themselves. There is a huge importance of readability in the environment. That’s being able to distinguish a player
- against the map itself. For competitive play, if one team is more easily visible, they’re at an extreme disadvantage
- Obviously some secret spots
- Don't forget originality and theme management! Make a map out of gold fuckin chickens if you want. Surf_Chicken
- Colour correct is also pretty cool, use colorcorrectionui and launch the game with "-tools"
- Simple yet in-depth.
- Don't over do it unless the idea is awesome that doesn't disrupt gameplay
- Good sizing, don't make it too big or too small. Keep different lengths of angles. E.g. all angles are at different ranges
- Maps that can appeal to poorly skilled players. Try to remove huge head glitches COUGH COUGH RAMPS. Your map needs to appeal to everyone!!
- Nice colours that aren't overdone. Although invex has done a great job of getting all the fucking terrible maps out, lanii is still in the game and I can barely see my crosshair when i play. Colours are great, but they can't distract from the the main idea and atmosphere
- Take the majorities favourite map, and see what you can do to implement some of the things the good map does, often the layout of the map that people love
