Next game night should be extremely competitive.

I feel as though we need a game night that isn't everyone getting together and having a good time, but a competitive setting where everyone that plays is extremely serious about what's happening.

This could be in the form of:
-1v1 tournament
-5v5 Comp
People can reply with suggestions because I can't think of anything else right now.

Yes, the 2nd competitive night was fun, but I feel as though the teams were unbalanced in terms of how determined people were on actually winning, even though it was extremely close.

So, instead of a signup (because then anyone could join) I would suggest either
-Admin team select people they think are good enough (may be bias, not good)
-Qualifying stage (even though this may take too long and we may not even need it if we get enough people interested).
Again, please post suggestions in replies if you have any other/better ideas.
We have an application process (similar to MC Whitelist) and anyone that isn't serious or isn't good enough based on the app is denied.

Also, since there won't be as many people in this (max 16 if 1v1) we should have another one very soon after this that is more community based.

Anyone that wants to add anything on, please do so in replies and I may edit it in and give you credit.

I'm down with the 5v5 idea, perhaps it could be a 5v5 tournament - the two winning teams face off in a final, would be pretty sweet.

Maybe have reserves.
People who sign up but just didn't make the cut who are available on the night.
This could also be solved by a ban for next community night for person who didn't show up.

And I made this thread because I'd rather have the intense 5v5s than the 10v10s, even though it's really fun. I just want everyone to see people's potential apart from surf skill or JB wardening. We don't have any competitive-like servers apart from 1v1/Retake, and we don't have a big enough community on those (e.g. the sub-forums are pretty dead).

I think the issue is player diversity. We don't have enough people in the lem+ ranks to make a 5v5 game do we? If not, it tends to get unbalanced. Thats my opinion anyway.
1v1 could be doable but has a similar issue. Could even have a best of 3 to move up a rank or a points calculated based on kills.

We can just have the minimum rank be DMG (maybe MGE) and go from there? We'll balance the teams in the same way as 10v10, unless the signups are extremely unbalanced. I can think of plenty of people that are quite skilled in aim and would probably like to play a 5v5 with other established community members (at least 8).

Best of 5 from each team (based on end game scores of the first match) have a 5v5
Worst 5 from each 5v5
Scores are added up based on wins per group
For example whatever 1 win 2 maps = win + forum award

I suggested this in the survey, I really like the idea.
If we were to pull the stats from last comp night, we should really get Top 10 (and bottom 10) overall, as the teams don't really reflect.

We usually have a comp night, meaning that everyone gets to play and have loads of fun.
It's not serious like this one, which is also why I suggested we have one right after so we don't have to wait a month for another one.
